VVS Paint & Markings Basics?

Hi Lads,

Back in the days of Il2Skins I had posted a fairly (!) concise guide to basic Soviet WW2 painting and markings methodology. I wonder if there is any interest to recreate the same here?

I mention this having seen Jester's lovely screenies of the P-39 template he's making. I see that Jester (was it, mate?) has moved the VVS markings I created into vector format [perfectly fine with me-- well done], and used them on the P-39. They look nice and flat-- very skillful. But, I might mention that the VVS did not employ national insignia on the wing upper surfaces, for example (there are the rare exceptions, of course).

This is the sort of thing I had in mind, along with basic colouration, and so forth. Anyone interested?

Cheers all.

Hi x4btr,

It wasn't me who did the vector gfx thingy, I don't know how.
It sounds like a good idea though if you feel up to it.
I tend to draw my markings at 512x512 then reduce them down to get them nice and sharp. Works well with stars and things like that, not so good with roundels.

Well, I had thought about just making a text posting, perhaps with some links. Maybe I could do something a bit more elaborate, also, for this site...? Hmmm... I will think that over, and in the meantime write some text for the Forum.
