Question Texture Stretching

Hi

I'm trying out Nightshifters Metal Template. I like it a lot.

I have run into a little glitch however. The texture has stretched across the back of the fuselage.

Not sure how to post an image so heres a link to it.

Any advice on getting this remedied would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Texture Stretching

I dont think you can do anything about it since it's in the mapping of the 3d model and not the paintschemes.

Same example as the underside of Me-262 and several other planes...

Anyway, if it bothers you too much, do try to skin the back area without any other details, dirts, weathering, paintchips etc... Just plain color. This will reduce (or even hide) the stretched appearance IMO.

Re: Texture Stretching

Thanks for the info folks.

I can certainly live with it. Really, just curious if it was fixable. And since the only people using Wannabee skins are, in fact, the Wannabees, I don't think I'll be getting too many complaints.

Thanks, again

Re: Texture Stretching

It looks like you did not save your work using Bright. (your markings also have that 'spotty' look a bit).
Bright is more 'intelligent' with dithering. That might also help to make this effect less visible.

And I go with the tip above: Don't add much detail to such area's but make it just disappear in the surropunding area's

Hi Serval

Yes I do use bright. Maybe it's the settings I use when saving as a .gif. As I am fairly new to skinning in general and PhotoShop in particular any advice is always welcome.

Here a few screens of the skin in progress. Obviously, I'm going for a well used plane. As always, I am open to suggestions.

Re: Texture Stretching

You should save your work as 24bit BMP or TGA. And let Bright do the work.
If you use Photoshop you can try the Bright plugin. Then you can use File-Export-Bright from PS itself. That's my favorite way to do it.

Re: Texture Stretching

If you are using BRIGHT and its working, you shouldn't be getting the sort of pixilation you have in those screenshots. BUT, I have a funny feeling it might not be the skin. If you look at the flak bursts in the pics, they are pixilated too. Could it be that somewhere in the screenshot conversion process between TGA and GIF format, the pixilation is occuring?? Try saving the screenshots as JPEGS and see if you still get the same problem. Can't promise anything but its worth a try

Re: Texture Stretching

Yep, HH is right, those dither marks appear to be caused by the gif preview images, I doubt they are on the skin at all.

And I do think the wear effects are looking great in those screenshots.
