Rebel Gladiator

Something I've been twiddling with. It was fun making up the lozenge pattern.

Re: Rebel Gladiator

Wow, this looks beautiful. I see that the pattern formation repeats along the leading edge axis of the wings. Can you give us some hints on the process, or is this a trade secret?

That looks really smart Vigilante. Funny how when you look at it you don?t notice the Confederate Roundels on the wings (Optical Allusion) or is it just me

Awesome Vig
Those lozenge pattern has always been my nightmare. I have seach every site on the net to find good examples. Not been so lucky so far , but did find something. I would call it second rate quality.

Re: Rebel Gladiator

Thanks for the kind comments, y'all. Adlabs, I didn't do anything special to make the top and bottom wing patterns align; I think my trade secret is luck! And, seeing that I got my idea for a fantasy lozenge-pattern from your stuff, Loke, I sure wouldn't call it second rate.

In making the pattern,I looked at a lot of patterns and started doodling, making the black outlines first and then experimenting with different colors until I liked the look. If I can find my lozenge template I'll be glad to upload it for anyone who's interested.

Sundog's comment is worthy of a thread unto itself - the reason the CS insignia doesn't show up well is because I applied too much saturation and lost my contrast. Working with saturation levels is a real challenge for me. Luckily, I controlled overall saturation on a separate layer so I was able to pump it up some and fix the problem.

I like bright colors, but I have learned that judicious desaturation is one of the biggest factors involved in creating the illusion of realism. I would love to have someone who has mastered this do a tutorial.

What I'm gonna do, is to make a temp page with all the lozenge camo I have.
Then hopefully we - you - us can make a lozenge template together which in the end can be hosted here. How does that sound?

This reply is aimed to you all here!
