Fuerza Aerea Mexicana P47's

Mexico came into war against Axis in 1942, but at this time its air force had no planes good enough to play any part in the conflict. Thus an agreement was made between the USA and Mexico in order to create an expeditionary air force of mexican pilots flying under USAF authority. The training took place in the US during 3 years. In spring 1945 the MEAF (Mexicana Expedicionaria Aerea Fuerza is ready to fight and joined the USAF squardons in the Philippines islands. There the MEAF performed at least 52 sucessfull ground support missions with P47D Thunderbolts. Ground troups said that they saw no differences between the results of USAF or MAEF.

Actually one of our members in RAF662, who flew P-47's during the war. The last flight he had in one, was to fly it to Mexico.
