HU-16 repaint issue

We're trying to repaint the texture file on a Grumman HU-16 for fs04. The left side graphic on the rudder wraps to the right side. Note: I repainted the right to better illustrate whats going on. The final repaint is going to be the Red Bull Grumman Albatross. Any Idea as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks
BillyK

Re: HU-16 repaint issue

I don't know the texture invovled.
But modellers sometimes tend to morrir some parts like rudders to save space. Especially when they don't think it will be involved in a special scheme.
If that is the case, you need to work around it, like move the logo a bit to the front.

Does the texture has a space for both the left and right side of the rudder?

Re: HU-16 repaint issue

The texture we're working is a 2nd generation file based on Greg Peppers Grumman Albatross. It includes left/right side; left/right top wing; engine cowl; prop...so on.
The funny thing is if we copy our file into the test folder and load it up it Mirrors, if we overwrite again with the original file the mirror disappears.

Re: HU-16 repaint issue

Hmm, well that looks like even the original is mirrored to me. In such cases only a generic image or design that works both ways can be used, as the model UVs can't be user edited.

Re: HU-16 repaint issue

Your right. I played with it in photoshop to see the transition. The lettering in the red bull logo is throwing mine off. With the original Gmax file would I be able to correct the graphic?

Re: HU-16 repaint issue

My guess is that you are painting the FS 2002 model. There is a version 2 out that was released by Greg Pepper and Michael Verlin in May of 2007. I have the model and just checked the textures. The tail is not mirrored. I can't find the zip file anywhere to give you a file name to search for. Do a search at Avsim or Flightsim.com with the authors name and look for a version 2 for FS 2004.

Good Luck!

Edit: Just read your last post Billyk. Sounds like you are using the same model. I did a quick scribble with black paint on the tail and it didn't mirror to the other side. Sorry I can't be of more help.
