DXTbmp woes....

Hi Chaps, experts and technophobes.....

My first posting here....sorry to say that I have a problem that has just occured with first use today with DXTbmp (Version 4.00.85).....if I open a PSD file from a valid paint kit to edit, the program seems to no longer recognise the file correctly. (the drop down bar is set to any file BTW)

The image is tiny and the info bar at the top of DXTbmp tells me that the image is: jpeg: 128x 128 (100%) - 24bit - PSD Preview

If I ignore the small image size and send to editor as usual, there is no change to the size when it opens Photoshop and the layers are not accessible (i.e appear locked)

However if I load the PSD in the first instance from Photoshop....all is ok, normal sized and the layers are usable.

This is weird as until yesterday all was working perfectly from within DXTbmp....suddenly it will not play ball...only this problem with PSD files, all others from FS2004 aircraft texture folders work as they should.

I removed DXTbmp and re-installed it.....nope!

I restored the PC to 2 days ago (DXTbmp was fine yesterday).....nope!

Downloaded another fresh one from Martin's site....installed.....nope!

Tried several other paint kits all PSD....nope!

Noticed one small clue...when in explorer, today any PSD file now shows as a visible thumbnail whereas before it didn't....(used to be a small Photoshop icon)...so I fear the problem is not cut and dried but any help or ideas much appreciated (Using WinXP) no known M$ updates either as I have those set to advise me and not auto.

Just getting a little frustrated here...any clues...?

Regards.

Re: DXTbmp woes....

I'm thinking this through...

Just to clarify, you are opening a layered Photoshop PSD in DXTBmp?

Re: DXTbmp woes....

Sorry Lads....I have confused everyone including myself.......I have just started to have a go at repaints FS2004 and after reading every tutorial I could lay my hands on and getting the tools, I made a good start with 'Modding' various aircraft Bitmap files (copy saved beforehand ) then after getting to grips with it I progressed onto a paint kit......these were PSD files and I now realise that I was getting my BMP's confused with my PSD files......

That was the problem...yesterday all was going smooth and today I started on a paint kit and perceived that DXTbmp had a problem.....but it didn't as I was trying to load the PSD the same way as I did the BMP yesterday without thinking....of course the poor proggy would have none of it as it does not support PSD.......A thousand apologies chaps...

Martin Wright has just emailed me to enlighten me and all is now well....Phew!!

Anyway, thanks for reading my plight.....bet it made a few heads scratch....

All is now sorted.....but I will be back now I know where you all are with hopefully more sensible postings...

Thanks once again.

Re: DXTbmp woes....

While learning new things in making repaints and textures, things can get confusing. So many different things you have to deal with, so many tools that try to help you... and all with their limitations.

Anyway, good you got your problem solved so you can move on with it
