Issues with Remove White Since the New IL2 1946 Game patch

Howdy

Since patching IL-2 1946 to the new HFX 5.1 patch I can no longer use remove white to get rid of the white color on a Void Skin in order to make a template. Has anyone else run into this ? and if so is there a work around ? I've tried saving the Void as a Jpg, a png I've increased and Decreased the colors nothing seems to work. Has this new patch done something to the Voids in the paint schemes folders to prevent you from removing the white coloring on a void ? " Note" I am making a new Lower layer before using remove white, and it still has the same effect.

Thanks in advance for any help

Belay my Last it was an issue with Paintshop Pro itself. If you run into this and nothing works it probably means that there is a corrupt file within the program. Also I found out that if you have Corel paint installed as well, you will need to uninstall both programs in order to reinstall PSP X3 in order for it to work.
Thanks to one and all

Oops !

Spoke too soon, I figured out that when you reinstall PSP x3 that the Remove white Plug in will work, it's after you install the Damed updates that things go awry. Instead of removing all the white back ground, it turns the back ground black. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this ?

Hi Snake,

Thanks for the details. Let me think on this a bit. I'm not sure at this point.

Until I get this figured out I cannot update my Paint Shop Pro Photo X3. Which would be nice since I do alot of Digital Photography as well.

Re: Issues with Remove White Since the New IL2 1946 Game patch

Looks like the latest patch is causing a few plugin issues, according to this thread.

Corel User to User Web Board • View topic - Plugins not useable

I can offer you some work arounds using GIMP, which is free.

Load up the void in GIMP, then choose menu "Colors : Color to Alpha". In the dialog box, just make sure that white is the active color and run the filter. Now you'll see the image becomes transparent in the white areas.

Now, save this image with the transparency as a .PNG file. This will preserve the transparency. When I look at even the icon for the file on my desktop in Windows 7, I can see the icon also has transparency too (not sure if WinXP or others will show this).

From there, load up the PNG file in PSP, and you should have transparency retained. Add your white background layer, and you should be ready to go.

I hope this is helpful!

EDIT: PS... I'm not sure if PSP X3 has this a feature similar to "color to alpha". If so, then you can save a few steps.
