WEBLOG?!
This is my weblog, weblog defined as a place where I will primarily share my discoveries on the internet. What you will find here are links to things that have for one reason or another caught my attention, however briefly.
If you use Tomboy notes in Gnome, you may have found that sometimes when you log into your user account, the Tomboy search window is open on your desktop.
I found the solution to this problem, at least in my own case.
My usual practice had been to add the Tomboy icon to the panel manually. After doing this I noticed no problems until I enabled Tomboy note searching within Deskbar search, and immediately I started getting the Tomboy search window on each login.
What I discovered is that when I enable Deskbar to search my Tomboy notes, Deskbar will attempt to automatically start Tomboy, and add an icon to the system tray. Since the Tomboy icon I had manually placed on the panel had already started Tomboy, I was actually getting a duplicate launch of Tomboy, which the application handles by simply opening the search window for duplicate starts.
So my solution: Simply do not add a Tomboy icon to my Gnome panel. Enable Tomboy searching within Deskbar, and Tomboy will automatically be launched at login, and it's icon will appear in my system tray.
