Nord 2501 Noratlas

Hi everyone,

I'm working on the Noratlas for cocardes.org and I can't get close-up pictures I need. I especially want pictures of the windows, cockpit and doors. Does anyone have any links or pictures that could help me? Thanks in advance!

Re: Nord 2501 Noratlas

Thanks Sundog. Unfortunately, I'm looking for pictures taken from up close. I've been through the Airliners.net collection of N2501 and found a few, but still not enough.

Here's a view of the progress.

EDIT: I've found some high-res views of a German model in Wikimedia Commons. These will help, but I'm still on the prowl for more.

Re: Nord 2501 Noratlas

Time for bed. I've done a bit more work on the forward fuselage:

I should count the hours one day. (Or maybe not. i might not be such a good idea... ? ). I suppose it 20% done by now.

Coming along nicely, Gaetan. The depth is there already. I think it is your strong shadow under the boom that really brings it forward. One of the planes on my "to draw" list is the AW Argosy. Similar layout.

Re: Nord 2501 Noratlas

Looking good!
Of course my only contact with this plane is the Heller model kit :P

...I still remember the funny little rubber tubes of glue that used to come with Heller kits!

Re: Nord 2501 Noratlas

Some coincidence, Blowhard! I also post on a French aviation art forum (aviation-illustree) and one of the guys showed me this painting after I showed the Noratlas WIP. His name is Fred Lilienthal (and he's the one who made the box art).

Re: Nord 2501 Noratlas

Spent another few hours working mostly on the landing gear, which I'm relatively happy with. Come on, guys, open fire: what do you think?

One of the annoying things with the Noratlas is that all models up to #81 have a different canopy glazing and a shorter fin fillet than the one I'm depicting here (late series, i.e. post-#81).

If anyone knows of other differences between early/late mark Noratlas, please speak up. Or remain silent forever.

BTW, someone was commenting on the Bevel/Emboss function and saying it should be avoided for major shapes. I agree with that. But as far as minor details such as the wiring on the gear struts or other minor things like that, it's a gift from God.

EDIT: Here's a quizz. There's something completely wrong with the image shown here. Can anybody figure out? (Forgot to turn the layer off before jpeging)
