BF 110 Nightfighter

~!S!~ Alle,
I am posting for the first time.
Here is what the winter has done to my brain...
I have an Harley Davidson 1980 Superglide. i am fitting 6 gallon tanks to it and have the desire to make an homage to the 110 g-4. i am looking for the meandering night fighter cammouflage pattern to paint on the large tanks. I have already Powdercoated the frame in sky blue, but I am in need of a pattern for the tanks and sheetmetal...

please help

I have a psychiatrist friend who might be able to help? Just kidding, sounds cool! Would be nice to see some pictures of it when it's done.

Re: BF 110 Nightfighter

Well, one thing you're wrong about, the Superglide was never used as a night fighter, only as ground attack!
Tought question, a lot of what people think these planes looked like is informed more by the restored Bf 110 at Hendon and the many plastic models and artwork done after it rather than the wartime reality.

But this scheme isn't so common on 110 night fighters, at least not as tight and well controlled. You see it more on maritime bombers. The 110 nightfighters are more haphazard and sloppy or subtle to the point of being vague. It depends more on what you've got in mind that you'd like.
I can do some scans for you but first, are any of these (including the Hendon 110) that are like what you're looking for?

(I did a plastic model of this one )

Re: BF 110 Nightfighter

~!S!~ Alle,
thanks for the rplies,
S! Blowhard... the hendon is what I had in my minds eye..IS that pattern called meandering?

Are there similar?

I will need to get some paint that is a reasonable match. Is there a method to get "modern" equivalents for the RLM paint mixtures?
At the very least I ll plan on getting some grey and black primer...
Note. I am not a fan of chrome... I intend to matte the exhaust... Unfortunately many parts only come in chrome.
