Bare Metal P-51D

Here is a plain, bare metal P-51D. Anyone wanna offer some do's or don'ts that you might see that need taken care of? Positive and negative feedback equally accepted.

Re: Bare Metal P-51D

how does this match up to pics of bare metal ponies.... spinner lighting needs lookin at as well... where the highlight forms a V on it's side makes it look a bit flat instead of round!.. on the whole good start

Thanks Sparty. After finding Jester's post on testing lighting, I think I'm gonna play with the lighting some more.

Re: Bare Metal P-51D

The Main fuselage lighting is a bit too strong. Try different shades on the matel panels and a little incorperation of blue in the lighting helps.

Here are the bare metal B-17s and B-24s I did to give you an idea. I also have P-51s but different examples give you good ideas on how the metal should look.

Re: Bare Metal P-51D

There is something in this profile that I have noticed that is also evident in quite a few other Mustang profiles, and I have never understood why it is that so many profiles a drawn with the spinner separated from the fuselage and with the drive shaft visible. I have never seen evidence of this in any of my Mustang photos.

I just find it a little distracting.

As for a bare metal Mustang how bout Ferocious Frankie or Lou IV from the famous 4? They are both on my list of things to do. It is a very long list tho.

I have quite a few period colour Mustang images if you would like something a little less known.
