Re: A6M2-21 WIP

Resized the project from 2000x1000 to 3600x1800. Really only have worked on the nose so far...still testing things on it.

Re: A6M2-21 WIP

Nice work so far The rivets look GREAT!
One thing you'll notice in the photos I sent, check your PMs, is that the trailing edge of the cowling where the cooling flaps meet it is a straight line, not scalloped. For some reason it's always shown this way on drawings The leading edges of the cooling flaps themselves are a bit rounded which creates a scalloped effect.
Here's a picture, although it's a 22-

And I had forgotten about the FABULOUS LARGE images on the Nasa image archive!!!
You can see all the details in this photo, including the cowling!

Here's another-

That should help some

Re: A6M2-21 WIP

Notice as well that you cant see an edge to the rivets, but an indent where they are.
Be interesting to see how you develop this one Graf, looks soooo damn fine so far.

Re: A6M2-21 WIP

Hey Graf, just found this-
A6M2 Zero
The some of the photos I emailed you are of this plane but there are more views here
Keep in mind that there are a few inaccurate things on this plane. 2 things I can think of off hand are the antenna attachment at the tail, it should be a bungee chord, and the piano hinges holding the leading edges of the horizontal and vertical tail sheet metal shouldn't be visible.
Also, since you've got a white surround to your fuselage hinomaru indicating it's a Nakajima built plane, it would probably have the longer pointier spinner seen on A6M3 22s and 32s, not the blunt one on Mitsubishi built A6M2s.

Re: A6M2-21 WIP

Where are you Graf? I've been waiting to see your progress! I'm working on mine now too...slowly. Still trying to determine all the little details. I can't make out what rivet pattern or patterns are on the cowling cooling flaps :P

Re: A6M2-21 WIP

Well...she's on hold for now. Like you I'm having some problems with the rivets in certain areas and want to be sure before I go ahead. Ordered a nice little book from Japan, should be in soon.

Can't wait to see what ya got mate.
