Re: My first

You've got a little chip 32nd rivet down 2 rows back from the back plate of the cockpit that is 3 pixels by 2 pixels, I think its in the wrong place?

Jokes aside, this is looking like the new standard BH, how is it for saving?

Re: My first

Thanks for all the encouragement guys It means a lot coming from other artist who know what's involved in doing this kind of thing.

Supah, lucky for me I don't have to paint anything nearly so detailed as a F4 cockpit I don't know how you can get through it! I might still need a little more detail in this cockpit but I'm not sure. Maybe the glass could be better but I also don't want to get too crazy with reflections.

Jester, there is A LOT more wrong than a 3 x 2 pixel area

I was really amazed by just how much was wrong or not even shown on my drawing. I knew that there would be some details omitted and some incorrect parts but WOW I used drawing from the Aero Details book. I probably should have gotten some good large scale drawings. I might try a set of A. L. Bentley's drawing next.
I did leave more than a few mistakes on this thing and I didn't do a very good job on the wing underside.
Does anyone notice that there is no rivet detail on the horizontal stabilizers? Do you think I need that?

I think I've got most everything worked out. On to the fun part, weathering and personal markings!

New standard? I'm just trying to live up to the standards already set...but I am trying to add a few of my own touches in there

Re: My first

Almost forgot, what about the propeller? I'm aware of all the different ways or doing them, leaving the blades off, setting them in motion etc.
I'm not sure if I want a moving prop, something about a straight flat profile seems too static for motion. But I'm not sure if I like what I have either. I could try without the blades but that doesn't seem right either.
Any thoughts on prop blades?

Re: My first

Looking geat Blowhard. I like the way you've done the prop here, suits the drawing nicely.

And I really need to work on that Avenger profile project of mine!

Re: My first

Yes, I've been waiting to see how the Avenger is going Ad

I was just doing a few tweaks to the Zero and I hit the save button. That reminded me that I hadn’t answered your question Jester-

how is it for saving?
VERY SLOW! I've cut it down to 7200 x 2756. It's 117.4 MB according to my info but PS shows it at 167 MB. I've never been sure why Photoshop shows file size so differently than my computer.
It takes a small eternity to save (PS shows it took 122.4 seconds ) but it's not unmanageable. Most operations go pretty quick.
I guess it's old habit that makes me want to work larger. Before computers you always wanted a larger image for retouching so that inaccuracies in the areas worked on wouldn't show in the reduction. So my thought is to make it bigger than it needs to be. Just in case

Does anyone here miss large process cameras cameras, 20 x 30 inch ortho film and rubylith?
