Searching for info

Searching for info on the Il2 in it's winter guise.
I've contacted the VVS for info, but I'd thought I'd ask here too.
I've had little success finding colour pics online of them in their white paint.
Gawd it's busy work though, I've spent what seems to be an eternity and I've bearly completed one section out of 3 (or maybe more) !

Re: Searching for info

There are a few Osprey books about VVS aircraft.

Soviet Air Force Fighter Colours 1941-1945 by Erik Pilawskii is also a very good source on paintschemes.

But what they actually did in winter for some aircraft:
Just spray some (low quality) whit paint over the original (summer) scheme.
That made them overall white with sometimes the original scheme showing through depending on how well the job was done.
The white paint was known to come off in big pieces especially at places where it was touched often. This because it was a field job over not very clean paint and because of the quality of that paint.
