you can also take a look at
Luftwaffe [LuftArchiv.de - Das Archiv der Deutschen Luftwaffe] 2.WK (../Luftfahrtindustrie/ Der Anstrich) for an alternative set of colors. I actually put them into my photoshop color plates giving the texture artists the choice between the different sets. at least they're working well in the TW (targetware) engine, dunno about the IL2 series...
