"Black 83" P-38L serial # Unknown. Flown by Major Gerald Johson Deputy CO of the 49th Fighter Group, Biak, October of 1944. Johnson probalby scored victories 12 and 13 in this fighter during a mission to Balikpapen on 14th of October 1944. His combat style was also hard on mechinery, and he used at least 3 P-38's between the end of 1944 and the spring of the following year.
