Re: Nord 2501 Noratlas
Time for colouring:
Noratlas 52+41 in July 1968
This aircraft served with Lufttransportgeschwader 62 (Air Transport Wing 62), which was based at Alhorn AB. This was the 43rd Nord N.2501D Noratlas, a variant of the N.2501 designed for Germany. After its retirement, the aircraft received civilian license "D-ACUG" and is now preserved in a children's playground in the city of Minden. The elephant was the wing's badge until it moved to Wunstorf AB, when the elephant badge was replaced by one with a blind crow.
One thing I had difficulty coping with is the "watercolour look" on some of those German Noratlas; (see
here
for example). So I tried yet another technique in my never-ending quest and came up with something I'm relatively satisfied with.
The fuselage inside the red rectangle
does not
have that weathering applied. (Looking at it now, I also realize that some of the bumping effects are too strong for the camouflaged version and should have been toned down a little... Too late!)
